The Israeli military said it attacked Hezbollah's headquarters in the southern part of Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they targeted Hezbollah’s central command center in Dahiyeh, a crowded area known as a Hezbollah stronghold. A military spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, said on TV that the IDF carried out a precise strike on Hezbollah’s main headquarters.

Lebanon's National News Agency reported that six buildings were destroyed in the attack. Israeli news channels reported that the strike was aimed at Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah. However, the Israeli army didn’t comment on whether Nasrallah was the target. But the size and timing of the blast suggested that someone important may have been in the building, according to the Associated Press.

Axios, a news outlet, cited an Israeli source who said Nasrallah was the target, and the military was checking if he was hit. A source close to Hezbollah told Reuters that Nasrallah is alive, and Iran’s Tasnim news agency also reported he was safe. An Iranian official said that Tehran is checking his condition.

The explosions were heard throughout Beirut, even up to 30 kilometers away. Thick smoke rose into the sky, and ambulances rushed to the area, with sirens sounding across the city.
